The spread of Android as the preferred OS for smartphones has made life easy for device manufacturers around the world. They need not focus anymore on the phone’s software. All they need to do is to manufacture some great hardware to beat the competitors. Smartphone business is going the PC way and many laggards like Sony and HTC have recently come up with excellent smartphones loaded with the free Android. These latest smartphones were also well received by consumers globally. The South Korean giant, LG too wants to do the same with its latest LG G2 flagship smartphone.

The new G2 is the successor to LG’s earlier flagship, the Optimus G. With its new flagship, LG has ditched the Optimus brand and hard tried to make it on par with the other flagships in the market likeĀ Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One. G2 falls under the new ‘G’ series of smartphones. LG G2 has a refreshing design which can be said as a big improvement over its earlier highend models. The phone looks somewhat identical to the Galaxy S4 but still doesn’t match other phones in the segment like Sony Xperia Z and HTC One. With a thickness of just 8.9 mm, the phone looks very slim. G2 comes with a gorgeous edge-to-edge 5.2 inch IPS full-HD display (1080×1920) with 423 pixels-per-inch (PPI). Unlike the previous high end smartphones from LG, the latest G2 doesn’t fall short on the specifications front.

The phone is powered by the 2.26GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor which is coupled with 2 GB of RAM. G2 runs on the latest Android Jelly Bean Operating System which is topped up by LG UI. LG has added several interesting features in the G2 like AnswerMe, which answers the incoming calls automatically when you lift the phone to your ear, KnockOn, which turns the screen on/off with a simple double tap, Guest Mode, which lets other users to access the phone, and Plug & Pop which recommends options to choose from when the phone is connected with USB cable and earphones.

The phone has a 13 megapixel advanced camera with features like optical image stabilization and LED flash. The primary camera can also record full-HD videos. G2 has 32 GB of internal memory and a non-removable 3,000mAh battery. The massive battery pack should give good extended standby and talk-time to the phone. Memory of the phone is non-expandable which can be an issue for people who store loads of data on their phones. To conclude, the new LG G2 is a great improvement over its earlier flagship in terms of both looks and specifications.
