After giving sleepless nights to Samsung and Nokia with its Canvas range of high end smart phones, Micromax is getting ready to fire another salvo. Micromax has just announced that it will release a new 3D smartphone in India. The new 3D smartphone from Micromax, A115 Canvas 3D, would also be the cheapest in India. Micromax said that it would price its new 3D smartphone at just Rs. 9,999. With the present 3D smartphone offerings from the likes of LG and HTC priced above Rs. 20,000, there is no doubt that the new budget 3D smartphone will get lot of attention in the Indian market.
Like the other 3D smartphones released in India before, you will not need any special glasses to view the 3D content on the phone. Micromax has only released some brief information of the phone and the full specifications of the phone will be available only at the time of its release. The runs on a powerful a 1GHz dual-core processor and 512 MB of RAM. Canvas 3D will come preloaded with the latest Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) out of the box. A 5 inch WVGA screen with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels will display the content on the phone. A 2,000 mAh battery will give a talk-time of nearly 4.5 hours. Connectivity options like Bluetooth and Wi-Fi too are available with the phone.
A major con for the phone is that its 3D capabilities are limited to see the 3D images and videos on its screen. You can’t create any 3D content (taking photos and videos) through the phone’s camera. A 5 megapixel camera on the phone’s rear can take normal photos with autofocus. But Micromax said that normal photos taken through the phone’s camera can be converted into 3D format through a special software which will be pre installed in the phone. Not only that, lot of 3D content like 3D videos and 3D games will also be preloaded into the phone.
Micromax Canvas 3D might me made available in all major multi-brand retail stores across the country in May. You can also buy Micromax’s first 3D smartphone in India from the company’s official website.
